Muskan Charitable Trust conveys its heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’bleashmir; LG Assures Tangible and Speedy Action on Divyang Welfare Initiatives

Katra, Jammu & Kashmir | [12th January 2026]Muskan Charitable Trust is pleased to announce that a delegation of the organisation met the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir to discuss key initiatives aimed at the upliftment and empowerment of Divyangjan across the Union Territory.The delegation was led by Mr. Sandeep Mehra, President of Muskan Charitable Trust, accompanied by senior members Mr. Manoher Wazir, Ms. Netra Tikku,, Mr. Parthi Dhar. The Trust presented a comprehensive set of proposals focusing on sustainable livelihood creation, inclusive development, and structured support systems for persons with disabilities.During the meeting, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor gave assurance of tangible and time-bound action on the proposals and appreciated the continuous efforts of Muskan Charitable Trust in serving the Divyang community. The LG expressed his commitment to ensuring accessibility, dignity, and empowerment for Divyangs in the region.Key Outcomes from the Meeting1. Accelerated Establishment of “Divya Café”The Hon’ble LG assured support for the speedy establishment of Divya Café, a first-of-its-kind initiative to be fully operated by trained Divyangs. The project aims to create structured employment opportunities along the pilgrimage route to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.2. Setting Up Skill Schools for Divyangs under SMVDSBThe LG assured support for the establishment of Skill Development Schools under the guidance of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB). These centres will provide vocational training, hospitality skills, life skills, and specialized education to Divyang youth, enabling long-term self-reliance.3. Buyback Arrangement for Divyang-Produced GoodsThe Trust proposed that commodities and consumables required by the Shrine Board be procured from Divyang-run units under a 100% buyback arrangement. The Hon’ble LG responded positively and assured that the Board would work towards formalising mechanisms for integrating Divyang-made products into the Shrine Board’s procurement system.The meeting marked a significant step forward in strengthening the ecosystem of support, employment, and empowerment for Divyangjan in Katra and the surrounding region.Muskan Charitable Trust conveys its heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor for his unwavering commitment, guidance, and encouragement towards creating an equitable and inclusive society.
